Health and Safety Audit Certificate

The Health and Safety Audit Certificate refers to COR (Certificate of Recognition), SECOR (Small Employers Certificate of Recognition), Safety Management Assessment (i.e., Sarnia-Lambton IEC certificate), ANSI Z10, CSA Z1000, DNV ISRS, OHSAS 18001 (PDF guide), ISO 45001, or equivalent.

Although there may be varying names across the provinces, certificates are usually issued by the province's Construction Safety Association, Enform, or a provincial body. These certificates show that the company has implemented a comprehensive health and safety program.

The Health and Safety Audit Certificate (or equivalent) is not mandatory/required for approval (as not all subscribers may have this). However, having this does provide a Subscriber with points in their Evaluation for Section 2.1 HSE Management System Audit. A total of 50 points is awarded for having this document requirement.

Health and Safety Audit Certificate - Letter of Intent

If the Subscriber has developed a Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) but does not yet have the required three months of documentation to achieve COR or SECOR (or equivalent) certification, they may be eligible to apply for a Temporary Letter of Certification (TLC). (i.e Link for information from ACSA: https://www.youracsa.ca/cor-secor/temporary-letter-of-certification/.)

The Letter of Intent is not a mandatory/ Required for Approval document as not all Subscribers may have this. However, having a Letter of Intent (or equivalent) does provide a Subscriber with points in their Evaluation for Section 2.1 HSE Management System Audit. A total of 25 points is awarded for having this document requirement.

The Letter of Intent is not required if the Subscriber has a Health & Safety Audit Certificate.
