Summary

To be accepted by ContractorXchange, Commercial General Liability (CGL) Insurance certificates must meet specific policy, naming, and coverage requirements. Review the criteria below to help prevent delays or rejection.

Policy Number

The certificate must include a valid policy number.

Issued To (= Named Insured)

The ‘Issued To’ name must match the subscriber’s name on your ContractorXchange account.

  • If the name differs, it must match an alternate name listed in the Questionnaire, under: Organization → Corporate Structure → “State other names the company has operated under.”

  • If the name does not match either, the certificate will be rejected.

Certificate Holder

The Certificate Holder must be addressed to one of the following:

  • ContractorXchange

  • Your company name

  • Generic recipient (e.g., “To Whom It May Concern”)

  • Certificates addressed to a client are not accepted.

Amount Per Occurrence

The certificate must show the Per Occurrence or Each Occurrence policy limit. The minimum required coverage is $2,000,000 per occurrence.

If the CGL policy does not meet the minimum:

  • An Umbrella or Excess policy may be used.

  • The Umbrella/Excess policy must indicate that it applies to the CGL policy (e.g., follows form or references the same policy number).

Effective Date

The certificate must show the policy start date.

  • We do not accept document creation dates or statements such as “insurance is in force at this time.”

Expiry Date

The certificate must show the policy end date, typically listed in its own column.

30 Days’ Notice of Cancellation

Some certificates include a statement confirming 30 days’ notice of cancellation.

  • This is not required for standard ContractorXchange insurance documents.

  • This is required for client-specific insurance documents.
