What is a WCB Clearance Letter?
A Workers’ Compensation (WCB) clearance letter is an official document from a provincial board that confirms a contractor or business:
Has an active WCB account
Is in good standing with premium payments
Is compliant with reporting requirements
This letter protects the hiring company by proving that the contractor carries their own coverage. It ensures the client can release payments without assuming responsibility for unpaid premiums or workplace injuries.
Where do I submit a Clearance Letter within my Account?
Within the ContractorXchange list of Documents, you will see the requirement for a current WCB / WSIB Clearance letter. A valid Clearance Letter is required for every Province/State chosen (in the Locations section) for the account.
If you have a Location chosen, but do not have a WCB / WSIB account, refer to this article: I have WCB document requirements for locations that we do not operate in, can these be removed?
